MTS worked with a large diamond mining operation in Canada to improve the use of mining technology and reduce operating costs by optimising dispatch performance and processes. The project involved adjusting dispatch and shift handover times to better support shift change efficiency, as well as integrating dispatch into daily planning meetings to ensure alignment with production priorities. Clear roles and responsibilities were defined between dispatch, operations, and Tech Services to eliminate confusion and improve coordination.

To ensure data quality, staff were retrained on correct Wenco screen usage, and quick-reference cards with clear status definitions were placed in operator cabs. A digital dispatch handover form was deployed to improve communication and accountability between shifts. In addition, non-essential admin tasks were reassigned away from dispatch, allowing the team to focus more on shift operations. Reporting was streamlined and automated, freeing up time for real-time optimisation efforts. These combined changes have helped the operation make better use of its technology, enhance productivity, and drive down operational costs.
